Weather in Bohinj
Bohinj is characterised by a relatively harsh Alpine climate with short summers and cold winters. Due to its position the Bohinj Valley is exposed to frequent temperature inversions. Most precipitation is recorded in the autumn and most sunny days in the late winter and early spring. The highest snow level is recorded in February and March.

In Bohinj, the warmest month down in the valley and up in the mountains is August. During the summer the average temperatures exceed the temperatures in the spring for nearly 10°C. January (in the valley) and February (in the mountains) are considered to be the coldest month of the year. In the winter the temperatures in the valley often drop below -20°C; whereas, most sunshine in the winter months can be enjoyed in the highlands.
Out of all seasons of the year, the autumn is the most perfect time for hiking enthusiasts. The autumn in Bohinj is usually warmer than the spring and the temperatures are more favourable for hiking than in the summer. The autumn is also not characterised by typical summer storms in the afternoon; however, days are becoming shorter. In October, the month which is also referred to as the Indian summer, the weather is usually particularly warm.
