Getting to Bohinj

You can get to Bohinj by various means of transportation: by bike, car or a rent-a-car, motorcycle, taxi, bus or train or by combining some of the aforementioned means of transportation. You can also arrive by plane to the nearest airport called the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik International Airport, which is only an hour-drive away from Vila Stare.

By Car

The tourist destination Bohinj is located 25km from the A2 motorway (Karavanke-Ljubljana-Obrežje). To arrive at Villa Stare choose the Bled/Bohinj Exit and follow the main traffic route to Bohinj. When you arrive to Bohinjska Bistrica turn right towards Ribčev Laz (6km) and drive towards Ukanc (4km). At the crossroad in Ukanc turn right pass the Zlatorog Hotel, drive across the Savica bridge (250m) and stop at the second house on the left, where Hotel Stare and Villa Stare are located.

By Bus

Regular bus service allows you to travel to Bohinj by bus from all over Slovenia. Hotel Stare and Villa Stare are located only 250m from the Bohinj Zlatorog bus station. To arrive to Bohinj from the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport or Ljubljana by bus we recommend you to take the Kranj–Bled–Bohinjska Bistrica–Bohinj Zlatorog bus line.

By Train

You can also catch a train to Bohinj from Jesenice or Nova Gorica. You can take a bus (the Bohinj Zlatorog line) or a taxi from the Bohinjska Bistrica Railway Station to Hotel Stare and Villa Stare (12km).

By Plane

There is no airport located in Bohinj or its vicinity; however, different air operators offer flights to the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik International Airport, where you can continue your trip to Bohinj with another mean of transportation. You can also arrive to some of the other airports, which are located rather near in the neighbour countries (Austria, Italy and Croatia) and offer a great starting point to commence your holiday adventure.
